Even so, that's preferable to no direction at all, and it's really just a minor gripe. It may just be the brain of someone who's been obsessed with this game for years, but I do feel sometimes the game did a little too much wink-wink nudge-nudge. The only thing I can possibly criticize here is that I feel the game can hold your hand a little too much with its puzzles sometimes. It's pretty, charming, and the pixel art is absolutely gorgeous- I found myself often using the zoom function just to take in the quality of some of the work. In a gaming climate where a lot of games will clamor to have the new best, most glimmering, most advanced never-before-seen graphics advancements in the world, that classic RPGMaker vibe that doesn't fight to add every pore to its graphics imaginable is a breath of fresh air.

The visuals are amazing- they're a direct upgrade to the original game's graphics (including fixing text readability issues), without sacrificing aesthetic or the heart of a classic RPGMaker game.

Even just opening the title screen and hearing the music made me feel like I was home. So of course I had high expectations for the remake, and kouri absolutely, 200% delivered. I said many times it was my favorite game of all time. The characters stand out very strongly despite the shortness of the game, and all manage to shine in their own ways, and the aesthetics stuck with me as well- it was my first exposure to a horror game, leading me further and further into the genre. I came across a bunch of RPGMaker-based horror games, and while I loved many, Ib is the one that stuck out in my mind for a long, long time. I first got into Ib way back when, when I was just a 11 year old running around the internet.
